Dr Scott Jones

Nephrologist

Dr Scott Jones is a staff Specialist in Nephrology at the John Hunter Hospital and Director of Physicians training for the Hunter Regional Physicians Training Network. Dr Jones is a proud Worimi man with an active interest in Indigenous Nephrology and overcoming the barriers to health care for Indigenous Australians. Dr Jones regularly undertakes indigenous outreach clinics in remote indigenous communities across NSW. Dr Jones is involved in Indigenous health research and sits on the steering committee for the ANDATA Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island working group. 

Dr Jones trained in Newcastle and the Central Coast before completing his training in Brisbane at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.

As the director of Physician’s training, Dr Jones is actively involved in medical education and training of Specialist Doctors, Junior Doctors, and Medical Students. Dr Jones is an examiner for the Royal Australian College of Physicians. Dr Jones has active interests in all aspects of kidney care, including chronic kidney disease, hypertension, dialysis, including home dialysis therapies, Renal Transplantation, and Renal Supportive Care. Dr Jones is dual-trained in Nephrology and General Medicine and holds a diploma in Palliative Medicine.
